  • Approximately 8 inches high; top diameter ≈ 6-3/4 in.; bottom diameter ≈ 4-3/4 inches
  • Partial blue Abingdon bottom mark on base
  • Good condition,  age and use consistent,  with light crazing etc. (especially to rim area),  interior glaze drips and imperfections,  interior mixed unknown residue, etc.

SMALL STONEWARE DECANTERS

  • Two small stoneware liquor decanters (sometimes called mini-jugs) with very similar colors, glazes, crazing, mold marks, unglazed bases etc.
  • Manufacturer(s) and production dates unknown; however, likely post-Prohibition
    Both decanters are empty
  • Approximate measurements:
    • Off-white over green decanter with top handle — a bit over 3 inches tall at highest point;  1-3/8" base diameter
      Weight  .16#
    • Green-speckled over off-white decanter with side handle — 3-1/4 inches tall;  1-1/4" base diameter
      Weight  .18#
  • Both pieces have wonderful crazing and the myriad of manufacturing flaws so typical of these wares e.g. glaze pops, misses and debris, clay and mold incongruities, stained/discolored bases, nicks, stains, discoloration, unk debris etc. etc.
    In addition, the mouth (opening) of the Green-speckled decanter has what appears to be a small pre-glazing crack plus a rough spot at the pouring spout (possibly a very small chip??) Note these extra flaws (marked by the red xxx) on the MORE PHOTOS page

  • Uncommon design pattern; however, flawed item now best suited for display
    Casserole with  many  typical utility stoneware manufacturing, glaze and mold imperfections PLUS chips on base PLUS a hairline crack that does extend from the interior to the exterior, etc. etc. PLUS, general wear and tear, scratches, nicks, unk. debris and stains, etc. etc.

  • Left:  Pale green No. 527, ≈ 8 inches high; top diameter ≈ 5 inches; bottom diameter ≈ 3 inches; faint mold number on base
    Right:  Medium green No. 527, ≈ 6 inches high; top diameter ≈ 3-1/2 inches; bottom diameter ≈ 2-1/4 inches
  • Pretty good condition, age and use consistent with glaze imperfections and inconsistencies etc., etc. typical of these wares; interesting tiny dark flecks in glazes
    Also, light green vase has factory flaw, perhaps where a worker held it
    Medium green vase with base flaws including small chip (approx. 12 o’clock in bases photo)
